LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 reinforces its European projection with an exchange with the Austrian IRIS project and presence at EGU 2026

The LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 project has strengthened its international presence with two key milestones: a technical exchange with the LIFE IRIS project (Austria) and the presentation of its progress at the General Assembly of the European Geosciences Union (EGU 2026), held in Vienna.

The latest meetings held by the LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 Project in Calahorra (La Rioja) and Pina de Ebro (Zaragoza) bring together riverside municipalities of La Rioja, Navarra and Aragón to discuss communication and information systems in flood emergency situations.

Ebro Resilience Authorities Committee renews institutional commitment and promotes a new phase of the LIFE project

The partner administrations, MITECO, CHE and the Governments of La Rioja, Navarra and Aragón have agreed to jointly compete for a new call of the LIFE Program of the European Union (LIFE Ebro Resilience 2P) to continue reducing the risk of flooding in the middle stretch of the Ebro.

The Czech Republic is interested in the flood adaptation solutions of the LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 Project.

The LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 Project participated last April 23rd in a technical meeting with an institutional delegation from the Czech Republic, in the framework of an official visit to Spain focused on water management and flood risk adaptation. The meeting took place in Tarragona, and was organized by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Spain.

Popular interpretive descents reinforce the connection with the Ebro River and enhance learning about floods

The two interpretative descents organized by the LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 Project in April, in the Osera de Ebro-Fuentes de Ebro (Zaragoza) and Sotos de Alfaro (La Rioja) sections, have concluded with a total participation of 80 people, filling all the available places and consolidating as one of the most valued activities by the riverside population.

LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 presents its experience of river space recovery at the main European forum on floods

The experience developed in the middle stretch of the Ebro has been the protagonist at the meeting of the EU Working Group on Floods (WGF), the main EU technical and political forum on flood risk management, at the session held on April 7 in Cyprus.

The LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 project team has made a technical visit to the Guadalquivir River Basin District to learn first-hand about various flood risk adaptation and river restoration interventions and to carry out an analysis of intervention typologies, their implementation, effects and public participation proposals.

Popular descents in April through the Sotos de Alfaro and the Osera – Fuentes stretch: the Ebro from the inside

On Saturday, April 18, an interpretative descent open to the entire population will be made along the stretch of the Ebro between the two towns in Zaragoza, and on Saturday, April 25, along the river stretch in Alfaro.
