The LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 project has information resources on flood risk adaptation for journalists. The media is one of the sectors targeted by the actions of the social capacity building plan of the LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 project.

Both in the
section of the newsletters/media resources section, as well as in the
section, as well as in the
documents
journalists will find information sources, a glossary on extreme events, a photo gallery, a video library and access to essential websites on flood risk reduction measures.

Social skills

The LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 project has developed a Social Capacity Building Plan as a central element to improve social resilience to floods and self-protection of the riparian population. Vulnerability is part of risk, and capabilities are part of vulnerability. If we strengthen capabilities, we reduce risk.

In this line of work, the media, with the local media at the forefront, are crucial for dissemination, training and increasing the population’s knowledge.

Therefore, communicators are one of the sectors targeted by the 16 campaigns to improve social awareness on different aspects related to flood risk management.

Through training courses, visits to the activities, and boat trips, knowledge about the river, actions to mitigate flood risk, river restoration, governance and social participation are promoted.

The project has participated in the organization of the day “Information on extreme events“ and has organized the following activities descents have been organized for working journalists in the section of La Rioja and Navarra and in the Aragonese section, through the Ebro Resilience Strategy, and for students of the journalism faculties of the University of Zaragoza and the University San Jorge, through the LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 Project.
