Environmental educators course

Environmental educators course

The LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 Project opens the registration for the course “Educate and enjoy in floodable territories: knowledge and resources for active tourism guides and environmental educators” aimed at these professionals who are interested in integrating the management and perception of flood risk and the environmental values of river systems in their activities.

The training is free, with 20 places available, including accommodation and full board on February 27 (from 4 to 8 p.m.) and 28 (from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m.) at the Albergue Río Alhama.

In addition to theoretical sessions, a field activity will be carried out in the environment of the Sotos de Alfaro.

Course contents

The course, in face-to-face mode, is divided into three sessions.

  • Session 1, on Friday, February 27, in the afternoon, with technical training on river dynamics, flood risk management and associated social conflicts, creating a common basis for the rest of the course.
  • Session 2, Saturday 28 February in the morning, with a field activity in the Sotos de Alfaro. A direct observation of the Ebro river and its flood zones, applying the concepts worked on the previous day.
  • Session 3, Saturday, February 28, closing in the afternoon, with an exchange of experiences, communication keys and collaborative design of educational activities and interpretive routes.

The key topics are:

  • Evolution of flood risk management approaches.
  • River dynamics, land management and examples of project actions.
  • Social perception, conflicts among stakeholders and tools to relate to them.
  • Field visit: interpretative route or descent through the Alfaro groves (depending on the weather).
  • Exchange of experiences, didactic resources and design of activities to communicate risk.

The objective is to strengthen professional capacities and offer practical resources to work in flood-prone areas based on knowledge, safety and the enhancement of natural heritage.

Interpretative descent CRA LA SABINA in Osera de Ebro (Zaragoza)
Interpretive descent IES Gonzalo de Berceo, Alfaro.

Registration

The course has 20 places available. The selection will prioritize the order of registration, geographical diversity within the scope of the project (La Rioja, Navarra and Aragón) and the variety of professional profiles.
