The exhibition Cuando el río recupera su espacio (When the river recovers its space) is hosted this October at the Centro Público de Educación de Personas Adultas (CPEPA) of Fuentes de Ebro (Zaragoza), a living space in the town. Around the photographic exhibition, other activities have been scheduled, a guided tour for students of the center and a guided tour for the entire population.
The collection of photographs aims to bring the concept of adaptation to floods closer to the territory and to explain in a graphic way the interventions that the LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 Project and the Ebro Resilience Strategy are carrying out in their municipalities.
In the case of Fuentes de Ebro, a town included in zone 2 of the LIFE Project, in the Osera de Ebro – Fuentes de Ebro section, very important actions are being carried out which, as a whole, seek to improve the resilience of agricultural areas to flooding.
Specifically, the reduction of narrowings in the river, moving away longitudinal protections of the riverbed and recovering fluvial space in the mejana del Conde and the meander of Aguilar and also, the creation of lateral flow buffer zones.

Content
The exhibition When the river recovers its space has already visited the Water and Environment Documentation Center of the City Council of Zaragoza, the Interpretation Center of La Alfranca and the Interpretation Center of the Sotos de Alfaro and its Storks.
The exhibition is adapted to the spaces it visits both in size and in the order of its blocks. Through a series of snapshots, provided by the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation for the LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 and information panels, five thematic areas related to the actions of the Project are visited:
- Meanders that become part of the river again.
- Remaining a riparian: adaptation is possible
- Types of intervention
- Restoring ecosystems and fighting against floods
- Real and effective participation
Guided tour and interpretative route
With the excuse of this exhibition, Fuentes de Ebro will be the center of other activities that will allow the exchange of more knowledge about the Ebro River and the phenomenon of floods.
On October 18 there will be a guided tour of the Aguilar meander. A proposal open to the entire population that will allow direct observation of the interventions underway to expand the river space and reduce flood damage.
In addition, the concept of lateral flow buffer zones and temporary flood areas, one of the most innovative proposals of the LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 project, will be explained.
On October 23, CPEPA students will be able to enjoy a session and guided tour of the exhibition. A proposal framed within the actions of Participation and Strengthening of Social Capacities of the LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 Project.
LIFE Project

This project is also an example of institutional coordination and cooperation in the intervention section, its partners being the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO), through its companies TRAGSA and TRAGSATEC; the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation; the Government of La Rioja; the Government of Navarra, through Gestión Ambiental de Navarra, S.A. (GAN-NIK); the Government of Aragón and the Aragonese Water Institute.
