This video shows the works in the confluence area of the Ebro and Aragón rivers, which are intended to give more space to the river so that it will be possible to evacuate the combined flow of both rivers. Other interventions are also shown, such as the recovery of groves or the creation of specific habitats for the European mink.

Start of the environmental restoration works in the "El Estajao" site.

As part of the Ebro Resilience Strategy, work has begun on the morphological adaptation and environmental restoration of the Ebro river in the "El Estajao" site, located in Alfalo (La Rioja). The works, which have a completion period of 24 months, aim to improve the morphological conditions of the riverbed, reduce the risk of flooding and carry out environmental restoration.

This video summarizes in 5 minutes the 5 months of work in the area of La Nava (Alfaro) in La Rioja. The main objective of the actions carried out in the area has been to reduce the risk of flooding and recover the ecosystem. 30 hectares have been recovered for the fluvial space by recessing 1.376 meters of the mote towards the bank and 14,000 trees have been planted, including poplars, poplars and ash trees and nearly 17,000 shrubs. The works have also allowed the creation of a wetland interconnected with the riverbed, creating a habitat conducive to the European mink.

General Ebro Resilience Strategy. Actions for the middle reaches of the Ebro

In this video we explain the causes that produce floods in the middle stretch of the river and what are the possible solutions we can adopt.

Morphological adaptation and environmental restoration of the Ebro in the "El Ortigoso" area. Phase 1.

The purpose of this action is to reduce flood damage at the confluence of the Ebro and Aragón rivers and to improve the environment of both watercourses. To this end, it was necessary to recover river space by acting in two phases. The first phase focused on the right bank, removing 1,790 meters of defense, which was subsequently set back 100 meters inland. Also, 400 meters of an arm of the Ebro have been recovered to facilitate joint evacuation. Finally, the curage technique has been applied to the island formed in the Ebro to improve water circulation.

Completion of works of morphological adaptation and environmental restoration of the Ebro in the "El Ortigoso" area. Phase 1

Work on the project for the morphological restoration and environmental rehabilitation of the Ebro River in the “El Ortigoso” area, in Milagro (Navarra), has been completed. The project had a budget of 1.4 million euros, which enabled the restoration of the riverine area with the goal of reducing flood damage and promoting environmental recovery. This has resulted in the recovery of 6.4 hectares of riverine habitat—previously occupied by productive poplar plantations—and the restoration of two lost river branches, each more than 400 meters long.

Morphological adaptation of the "El Estajao" site, in Alfaro (La Rioja)

The works corresponding to the project for the morphological adaptation and environmental restoration of the Ebro river in the area of "El Estajao", in Alfaro (La Rioja), have been completed. The work carried out had a budget of 2,032,792 euros, which has made it possible to improve the morphological conditions of the riverbed, reduce the risk of flooding and, finally, carry out an environmental restoration in the meander of the same name. All this has meant the recovery of 23 hectares of land as a fluvial space, of which 21 hectares have been restored with the planting of 21,100 specimens of reibera species typical of the banks of the Ebro.This action is part of the so-called "Combined section of actions", between Alfaro and Castejón (Navarra), which includes different proposals to reduce the effects of floods in the area where the Ebro and Aragón rivers meet: the sites of "La Nava", "La Roza" and "El Estajao" and the "Soto de Tamarigal", all in Alfaro; the site of "El Ortigoso" in Milagro and the meander of "El Señorío", in Castejón, both in Navarra.

EBRO RESILIENCE: Reconnecting the Ebro River—Fish Ladder at the Pina Weir

Designed to accommodate the Ebro River’s flow rates—both during low-water and high-water periods— this fish ladder at the Pina weir (between the municipalities of Burgo de Ebro and Nuez de Ebro, in Zaragoza) ensures the continuity of a roughly 60-km stretch of the river.
