LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 expands its network of exchanges and works to establish new contacts to promote the replication of flood risk mitigation measures, one of the objectives set by the European Union’s LIFE Program for this Project.<\/p>\n

This was the case during the official visit of a delegation of Polish government officials, all of whom are representatives of The State Water Holding Polish Waters<\/em><\/strong>The event, which took place on October 24 and 25 in the Ebro basin, was organized by the state agency responsible for the management of all water resources.<\/p>\n

The visit was requested from Poland, when they learned about Ebro Resilience and the actions already underway. It is part of the actions of the “Odra-Vistula Basin Flood Management Project”, in Poland, <\/strong>which is financed by the World Bank and the European Union and for which innovative actions are being analyzed, such as those defined by LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 with green infrastructures and the application of bioengineering.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The LIFE project team offered a guided tour of the meander of La Roza, in Alfaro, La Rioja, integrated in intervention zone 1 (Alfaro, La Rioja – Castej\u00f3n, Navarra), where 22 hectares of fluvial space have been recovered through a defense setback; a relief channel has been created and a fluvial restoration will soon be carried out by installing riparian forest vegetation. The El Se\u00f1or\u00edo meander (Navarra) was also visited, where a morphological adaptation action is planned to be carried out that will be added to that of Alfaro in the combined section of actions.<\/p>

The program of the visit was completed with a tour of other interventions of the Ebro Resilience Strategy and actions of the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation carried out after the extraordinary flood episodes of 2015 and 2018 and that have served as an example for the Ebro Resilience philosophy. In addition, the basin organization made a presentation on the Flood Risk Management Plan of the Ebro Demarcation and the operation of the Automatic Hydrological Information System (SAIH).<\/p>

For its part, the Polish delegation presented the progress of its Odra-Vistula flood management project, allowing for a technical exchange on the proposals.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 project (LIFE20 ENV\/ES\/00327), approved by the European Commission in the LIFE2020 call, will be carried out in three autonomous communities (La Rioja, Navarra and Arag\u00f3n), with a duration of 6 years and a total budget of 13,310,350 \u20ac, with 55% of European funding.<\/p>\n

This project is also an example of institutional coordination and cooperation in the intervention section, its partners being the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO), through its companies TRAGSA and TRAGSATEC; the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation; the Government of La Rioja; the Government of Navarra, through Gesti\u00f3n Ambiental de Navarra, S.A. (GAN-NIK); the Government of Arag\u00f3n and the Aragonese Water Institute.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
