The LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 Project is characterized by its continuous presence in the field, in the intervention areas in the middle stretch of the Ebro.<\/p>\n

On April 18, we visited the so-called Zone 2 of the Project, where the Osera de Ebro-Fuentes de Ebro (Zaragoza) section will be intervened.<\/p>\n

The Project’s technical team toured the area with the members of the participation and deliberation groups, the so-called co-creation groups of this section. Specifically, there are three groups dedicated to Mitigation and Adaptation, Nature and Biodiversity, and Participation, joined by participants from another stable group dedicated to Conflict Transformation in flood issues.<\/p>\n

It is one of the best experiences of the Project, to be able to share and discuss the actions with people from the territory interested in reducing the effects of flooding. These forums are attended by those affected, educators, representatives from the university world, the primary sector, administrations, project partners, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of yesterday’s priorities was to know the sections in which the existing levee or defense will be set back (set back from the riverbed) to gain river space, avoiding narrowing where breaks and overflows occur in flood situations. Areas in which, in addition, environmental restoration will be carried out.<\/p>\n

In addition to the intervention of setback, a pilot experience is planned in Zone 2 that is of particular interest to the LIFE Program as a model for replication in other Spanish and European basins: the adaptation of cultivation areas creating areas that will be pre-flooded before the arrival of the maximum flows of a flood.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
