Several relevant events in the European context await the LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 Project during the month of October. The proposal to reduce the risk of flooding in the middle stretch of the Ebro has been invited to present itself and its progress in three different forums, confirming its role as one of the reference projects of the LIFE Program in flood management. <\/p>

Participation in these events allows the project to contribute to the discussion on the integration of the Water Framework Directive and the implementation of the new European Water Resilience Strategy, sharing its experiences on flood management and the use of innovative solutions. In addition, it allows establishing new contacts to meet another of the Project’s objectives, the replication of its adaptation measures and nature-based solutions in other European basins with similar problems. <\/p>

Finally, the number of events dedicated to this topic shows the great interest of the European Commission in water resources and everything related to their management.<\/p>

Water resilience<\/strong><\/p>

The first of the events, on October 14, in Brussels (Belgium<\/strong>), is the one organized by the European Executive Agency for Climate, Infrastructure and Environment (CINEA), as a meeting of the LIFE Platform to discuss the “Water Resilience Strategy – LIFE Strategic Integrated Projects implementing River Basin Management Plan practices”.<\/p>

This meeting aims to analyze the implementation of the European Water Resilience Strategy<\/strong>, adopted by the European Commission in June 2025, which seeks to ensure the sound management of water resources and to integrate water considerations into various policies. The objective is to exchange experiences on methods and tools for the implementation of River Basin Management Plans. <\/p>

There, CINEA invited the LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 Project<\/strong> to participate in a workshop on “Quantitative water management”, which will be presented<\/strong> by Carolina Garc\u00eda, a technician from the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation and Ebro Resilience.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

European Week of Regions <\/strong><\/p>

On October 15,<\/strong> the Project will continue in Brussels to be part of the activities of the European Week of Regions and Cities, in particular in a participatory laboratory launched by ZINNAE, the Cluster for the efficient use of water, in collaboration with the Government of Aragon and entitled “Water Resilience meets bottom-up innovative solutions”, dedicated to water resilience driven by innovative local and technically based solutions<\/strong>.<\/p>

Carolina Garc\u00eda will also participate in the event, providing the Ebro Resilience approach and presenting the lessons learned.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

LIFE Project<\/strong><\/p>

The LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 Project (LIFE20 ENV\/ES\/00327),\u00a0approved by the European Commission in the LIFE 2020 call<\/strong>, covers three autonomous communities (La Rioja, Navarra and Arag\u00f3n), has a duration of 6 years and a total budget of 13,310,350 \u20ac, with 55% European funding.<\/p>

This project is also an example of institutional coordination and cooperation in the intervention section, its partners being the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO), through its companies TRAGSA and TRAGSATEC; the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation; the Government of La Rioja; the Government of Navarra, through Gesti\u00f3n Ambiental de Navarra, S.A.
