As part of the actions for strengthening the social capacities of the LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 Project, on June 20 we organized a workshop with environmental educators that brought together professionals from this sector in La Rioja (educators from the Pasea La Rioja Program, from Descarboniza La Rioja and Educational Centers for Sustainability) and educators from the La Alfranca Natural Area in Zaragoza, where the meeting was held.<\/p>

The purpose was to work on the contents of the Project and establish the topics of a specific training course for this sector on river dynamics, land use planning, environmental values, history of flood risk management, existing conflicts and all this with the materials and resources published by LIFE Ebro Resilience P1.<\/p>

In addition to taking advantage of the forum to disseminate what Ebro Resilience is and the current progress of interventions in the middle stretch of the Ebro, a dynamic has been established to build together the best agenda for the future training of environmental educators on issues of extreme events.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The workshop also included a guided visit to the photographic exhibition \u201cWhen the river recovers its space: nature-based solutions to floods\u201d, which is currently on display at La Alfranca and between July and September will be moved to the Interpretation Center of the Sotos de Alfaro and its storks.<\/p>

The objective of the tour was to clarify concepts and offer tools so that educators could address the doubts of visitors to the exhibition.<\/p>

Spaces for exhibitions <\/u><\/strong><\/p>

The Natural Area of La Alfranca, in Zaragoza<\/a> is located next to an area of great natural value such as the Natural Reserve of the Sotos y Galachos del Ebro. That is why environmental education and the dissemination of natural values are one of its main pillars. It is managed by the Government of Aragon, one of the partners of the LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 Project. <\/p>

The Interpretation Center of the Sotos de Alfaro and its Storks<\/a>, managed by the Government of La Rioja, also an Ebro Resilience partner, shows visitors the changes that the biodiversity of a living and dynamic space<\/strong> such as the Sotos del Ebro undergoes with the passage of time and the action of man.<\/p>

The strengthening of social capacities is a central element to improve social resilience to floods and the self-protection of the riparian population. Vulnerability is part of risk, and capacities are part of vulnerability. If we strengthen capacities, we reduce risk. <\/p>
