Specifically, through Phase 1 of the environmental restoration of the Ebro in this section that focuses, for the moment, on the left bank of the river, in the terms of Castej\u00f3n and Valtierra. <\/p>\n<p>The work area is located in front of the meander of El Se\u00f1or\u00edo, between the bridges of the N-113 road and the AP-15 highway, <strong>a degraded and impoverished area in terms of vegetation,<\/strong> which saw its fluvial dynamics altered by the construction of dikes or defensive dykes.<\/p>\n<p>The execution of the works corresponds to Gesti\u00f3n Ambiental de Navarra, S.A. (GAN-NIK), partner of the LIFE Ebro Resilience P1 Project, and there is a subsequent maintenance phase by another partner, the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation. The budget for this first phase is 57,942 euros. <\/p>\n<p>The morphological adaptation and restoration of the El Se\u00f1or\u00edo meander, which includes these planting works, <strong>aims<\/strong> to <strong>reduce the risk of flooding<\/strong>, <strong>restore the meander to its natural functions<\/strong> in terms of the recovery of fluvial dynamics and the evacuation of flows in flood situations, and prevent deterioration, protect and <strong>improve the state of<\/strong> aquatic, terrestrial and wetland <strong>ecosystems<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-0ca193e elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"0ca193e\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-84097c4\" data-id=\"84097c4\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9afed31 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"9afed31\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ebroresilience.com\/wp-content\/plugins\/elementor\/assets\/images\/placeholder.png\" title=\"\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-e16cea4 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"e16cea4\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-16154c3\" data-id=\"16154c3\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1f083de elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1f083de\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Intervention<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The current intervention is focused on the <strong>creation of wooded areas<\/strong> that will allow for a reconnection with the existing river banks, enhancing the section as a green corridor that will allow the movement and migration of fauna and flora species. In addition, its arrangement following the flow of the river will facilitate the evacuation of flows in case of floods.   <\/p>\n<p>The planting season is set between November and January and consists of reproducing four bands of vegetation according to the distance from the riverbed, as in riparian forests. The species to be used are those specific to the stretch:   <strong>white willow, white poplar, black poplar, poplar, ash, tamarisk, blackthorn and hawthorn. Elm trees resistant to graphiosis will also be introduced with clones from the LIFE Olmos Vivos project.   <\/strong>The multiplication of the plants is being carried out in the nurseries that Gesti\u00f3n Ambiental de Navarra has in Marcilla.<\/p>\n<p>Before planting, the soil is prepared to restore its conditions to support vegetation and absorb water and nutrients, and debris and other materials that may be found on the land are removed and taken to an authorized landfill.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>El Se\u00f1or\u00edo<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>These works are integrated in the intervention zone 1 of the LIFE project that involves the recovery of meanders in the section of the Ebro river between Alfaro (La Rioja) and Castej\u00f3n (Navarra), the so-called &#8220;Combined section of actions&#8221;.
