River arms Where are they?<\/i><\/b><\/a><\/h4>

Did you know that a river does not always have a single channel? Secondary channels are (or should be) naturally activated during floods, connecting the river space. <\/span><\/p>

Relief channels<\/i><\/b><\/a><\/h4>

Relief channels are new branches of the river that are created and come into operation during floods. They can be artificial branches, excavated in the ground, or partially natural, when they connect with old branches of the river that have lost their functionality. This intervention increases the width of the river when needed (during floods), reducing the height of the flowing water.<\/p>

The lobes<\/i><\/b><\/a><\/h4>

Riverbank wetlands. Hydraulic defenses that take advantage of the river’s own erosion on the banks. Instead of repairing a broken defense with the classic method, a cell is created that functions as a wetland on the edge, in some cases, temporary, in others, permanent. <\/p>

\u2705 During floods, water is confined in these cells and generates a rotary motion that reduces the energy of the main current and prevents further erosion.<\/p>

Informative Seminar on Flow Forecasting and reservoir management in Ebro floods<\/div>\r\n

Within the Ebro Resilience Strategy, several dissemination actions are developed with the aim of promoting knowledge about flood episodes in the middle stretch of the Ebro and to increase society's self-protection tools in the event of floods. This was also the purpose of the Informative Day \"Flow forecasting and reservoir management in the Ebro floods\". In the middle stretch of the Ebro there are 7 protected areas belonging to the Natura 2000 Network linked to the river environment, 63% of its length being integrated within it.
